It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

We're starting to get busy.

We've used over 10% of the components we ordered already and have orders pencilled in which'll take that figure to over 20%. At this time of year it's good to check we have enough ink for the printer, enough printer paper, enough packaging materials and stamps.

We're doing a roaring trade in custom badges, Christmas badges and wedding badges.

Here are a few shots from today.

A custom order
One of our larger orders getting prepared
Don't forget we have a beautiful discount code for you!

Use voucher code XMAS20 to get 20% off orders up until Dec 15 2011. This is valid on orders up to 250 badges but excludes custom orders due to the extra work involved.

We'll be winding down orders from around Dec 15th 2011 so we can enjoy some family time and do some last minute Christmas shopping.

How is your Christmas shopping going?

CRAFTfest

We're taking part in an online craft fair called CRAFTfest from the 26th-27th of this month.

It's s place where you can do all your Christmas shopping in one go.

There are 170 shops taking part on that weekend and there will be a wide variety of offerings from jewellery to gifts to homewares to bath & beauty - you get the picture! :)

Here are a tiny fraction of the shops involved:

The Very Small Company who sells beads and jewellery-making supplies, ribbons and trims, buttons, creative textile supplies and craft supplies.

Miss Bohemia who is a jewellery designer who creates vintage styled and magical jewellery and a new accessory range which includes trinket & keepsake boxes.

Wedding Toppers who make personalised cake toppers from fimo for all occasions.

Bows and butterflys who sell hand painted woodem items for in and around the home.

Lollipop Boutique who makes handmade hair treats.

---

We have a great discount code on at the moment which is valid until December 15th. You get 20% off orders using voucher code XMAS20 at checkout. It isn't valid on custom orders due to the extra work involved.

We have lots of designs online, including over 200 Christmas designs, which make great stocking fillers or a little something to put in with a Christmas card.

Have a great week!

Interview with Kelly from Kokokelli

I've bought 4 custom cards from Kelly and they're always great!
  1. Were you always crafty as a child? I've been a creative person all my life, even as a child I'd be drawing, painting or trying to make something lol

  2. When did you start your business and what made you start it? I started crafting in January 2010 but Kokokelli officially started in June 2010

  3. How did you come about your business name? I was trying to think of something for ages but then one day when I was reading about Kokopelli I thought, why not make a play on the name and call myself Kokokelli?! lol

  4. Tell us a bit about what you do: I make gorgeous handmade jewellery & greeting cards at affordable prices. Whether your chic & classy or weird & wonderful Kokokelli will have something for you. And if we don't - just ask! We love doing custom orders!

  5. What are your favourite pieces you make? I love everything I make really cos its all different and been inspired by different things. I've done quite well with my wedding cards really as I've had a few custom orders from different people for those.

  6. Where do you see yourself and your business in 10 years? I would love to say that I'd like to be working for myself and earning loads of money doing wot I love most but the way things are at the moment especially with the recession it's not looking too good. So I'm gonna say I myself would like to be settled down with my lovely Dr in our own place with a few kiddies and hopefully I'd be running my business from home aswell as doing another job if need be.

  7. If time and money were no object, is there anything you’d like to do differently? I'd love to have the funding to be able to advertise more and really get the Kokokelli name out there, it's very hard starting off especially when you've been unemployed for a year and a half and you don't have any money!

  8. Tell us about 2 crafters you love and why. I love Leah from 'Funki Munki Badges' (and not just cos this is her blog lol) but I always look forward to reading her tweets, status, and blogs as they either have me in tears of laughter (but sometimes sorrow) or cheer me up if I'm down. Leah is lovely genuine person and basically a 'what you see is what you get' kinda person and I love that quality in a person. I also love Shirley of 'Diddybears'  cos she does so much to help others. She's even doing a campaign at the moment called SHHIM (Support Handmade However It's Made) where she is helping out fellow crafter's who have been affected by the new rules coming into place at Folksy. - Aww, thanks! I'm welling up!

  9. What do you do when you’re not crafting? When I'm not crafting you'll usually find me on facebook and twitter trying to promote myself as much as possible (without being accused of spamming lol) or chilling out with my lovely Dr.

  10. Please leave all links, ie Facebook, Twitter, Etsy, Blog etc (as applicable).

10% off code, new Halloween & Xmas badges and CRAFTfest

Hello! Long time no blog.

There's 10% off on our website Funki Munki Badges until 31st September using voucher code HALLOWEEN at checkout. You can feel free to share this with your friends and family and it can be used multiple times on all orders except custom orders.

We've added oodles of new photos to our Halloween category and our Christmas category.

There are now well over 200 badges in each of those categories. Here are a couple of new Christmas designs, a small departure from us as they're 3 part designs.

It's a way off yet but we're going to be taking part in CRAFTfest in November, which is a virtual craft fair. I love the idea!

Click for larger image.

It'll be a great way to do some networking and make some new crafty friends.

750 Facebook likers giveaway EXTENDED TIME FRAME

Hiya!

Thanks to the wonderful Send In The Troops on Facebook, we smashed our 750 likers target tonight.

As a thank you to everyone I'm going to give away one £10 credit for our website.

Due to new regulations about not holding competitions on Facebook, I'll be holding the competition here.

There are 2 ways to enter and each way counts as one entry:

1. Tell me what your favourite badge is in the comments. If you don't have a Blogger account, leave me your name/e-mail or Twitter/Facebook details so I can get hold of you if you're the winner.

OR (I added the 'or' in case it wasn't clear).

2. Retweet the following on Twitter with no changes whatsoever:

Win a £10 voucher for www.funkimunkibadges.co.uk from @funkimunkibadge http://bit.ly/lvHuzj Pls RT #competition

You can do both the above to gain you an extra entry into the competition, or just step 1 or just step 2, it's entirely up to you.

 T&Cs

Competition opens at 11pm BST 03/06/11

Competition closes 11pm BST 17/06/11

Winner will be picked by Random.org and announced on 18/06/11

I will give the winner a one-time discount code to the value of £10 (or that day's exchange rate if the winner is outside the UK) to use towards an order from our website.

The voucher cannot be used towards a custom order.

Any remainder of the order costs and postage are payable by the winner. (Postage is free worldwide if your order totals over £15).

Competition is open worldwide.

Any questions?

EDIT 5/6/11. I've removed the part saying you have to follow my blog to enter, as not everyone has a Blogger account and I want everyone to have a chance to enter.

EDIT 7/6/11. I've extended the deadline by a week as seemingly hardly anyone wants free money!

YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE A BLOGGER ACCOUNT TO ENTER.

If you don't have a Blogger account simply use the drop down under the comment box and either use the 'name/url' option to live me your name and a link I can find you on if you win (i.e. Facebook/Twitter or blog/email) or the 'anonymous' option, where you need to tell me where I can find you (email, FB, Twitter etc) if you win.

Simples! ;)

Our badges aren't just for bags, jackets and guitar straps - Christmas Inspiration

Over the next week or so I'm going to be posting some ideas for how to use our badges in a non-traditional Christmas-y way.

I bought some ready-made Christmas themed Mini Cards from Moo.com recently with a view to using them as gift tags on Christmas gifts this year.

All images clickable for larger images.

I got the reverse printed with a message as it's much nicer than my handwriting ;)

I hole-punched them and put some 3mm ribbon through and added some badges to give them that special touch.

What do you think?

NEW WEBSITE!!

Hello everyone!

I just thought I'd let you know our brand new website is up and running! Have a look and let me know what you think.

http://www.funkimunkibadges.co.uk

We're really pleased with it. As well as updating the look of the website, there's a handy scroll bar when you go to 'All Badges.' It means rather than having to go through 20 + pages of badges, you can slowly scroll through the whole lot over 5-6 pages. It loads a line at a time, so you can't zoom from the start to the end and have everything loaded right away, but it's so user friendly for people who want to see everything without endless clicking!
